ndga Nigerian Dwarf World Wide Wether Program

"This program is designed for youth participation and education as well as promotion of the Nigerian Dwarf goat as a Dairy Goat breed in miniature. This program will join 4-H, FFA, FHA and NDGA together, building a better tomorrow for our youth in the Dairy Goat industry with a focus on education, not just winning in the show ring."

NDGA will be awarding U.S. Savings Bonds to the three top youth exhibitors yearly. Funds will be divided as follows: 1st place 49%, 2nd place 34% and 3rd place 17%. Funding can be contributions from Vendors, Clubs, Organizations, Associations, Exhibitors, etc. There will be a $10.00 new membership yearly fee and a $5.00 renewal fee to the World Wide Wether Youth Education Program.

Youth Rules:

  1. Youth program application must be filled out by youth and signed by parent or guardian.
  2. Youth must be a member in good standing with NDGA at time points are awarded, youth or family membership accepted with youth program fee paid.
  3. Youth must carry 75% grade point average or above at time points are awarded with a copy of the current report card for receipt of U.S. Savings Bond. Youth may be enrolled in any private, public or home school.
  4. Wether used in points awarded may be youth or family owned, but must be youth shown. Wether entered in show may be substituted for another wether owned by same youth or family due to illness or injury of animal.
  5. Wethers must be NDGA registered, tattooed and under 23" buck height requirement and show must be NDGA sanctioned to accumulate points. Wethers may be shown at any non-sanctioned show but will not accumulate points.

Points awarded: Points may not be transferred from one wether to another. Only one wether per show per exhibitor will accumulate points.

5 pts = NDGA sanctioned show helper: Youth will turn in signed note from show committee member stating that he/she participated as ring Stewart, pen cleaner, concessions mate or any other helpful task.
5 pts = 4-H and/or FFA participation with your NDGA registered wether in showmanship, open, or 4-H/FFA class' at a show.
3 pts = Hoof trimming evaluation of your wether for a NDGA judge, send in name of judge with brief evaluation.
5 pts = Attendance of a DHIA goat milk test. Send in name of DHIA Supervisor, date of test and location with evaluation of testing and what you learned.
10 pts =Attendance of an official DHIA dwarf goat milk test where youth participates. Youth will send in name of DHIA supervisor, date of test and location with name of dwarf he/she participated with.
8 pts = Attendance and participation of dwarf goat sonogramming. Send in a copy of the vet receipt or sonogram results.
10 pts = Exhibitor at a Dwarf goat show, send in copy of the program with your printed name, if late entry send in note from show secretary.
