ndga Nigerian Dwarf Wether Program

"Adopt A Wether" Youth Program

"This program is designed for youth participation and education as well as promotion of the Nigerian Dwarf goat as a Dairy Goat breed in miniature. This program will join 4-H, FFA, FHA and NDGA together, building a better tomorrow for our youth in the Dairy Goat industry with a focus on education, not just winning in the show ring.."

Nigerian Dwarf wethers are the ambassador of the breed. Many wether owners have gone on to purchase breeding and show stock after falling in love with their original dwarf wether purchased as a pet. Adopting a wether can be a rewarding experience for any youth while helping teach responsibility and animal husbandry.

Any breeder or farm wishing to donate an NDGA registered and tattooed Nigerian Dwarf wether to a youth anywhere in the country will love this program! If you have a wether you're willing to donate, please write a paragraph on the wether stating his age, color, qualities and pedigree information and submit this with a picture (if possible) to Dwarf Digest. Include your name, farm name, and address and phone number. This program not only promotes good homes for wethers, but allows less fortunate kids from all over the country to obtain a dwarf they can show and love reasonably.

The recipient of the wether would be responsible for registration fees, health certificates and health tests required by their state, shipping charges and kennels unless the breeder is willing to subsidize any of these costs. Any one wishing to adopt a wether must be a member of NDGA and must participate in the World Wide Wether Education Youth Program for one (1) year. Recipient may not dispose or sale the wether, they may donate the wether back to the Program or care for the wether as a pet. The recipient may continue to use the same wether in the World Wide Wether Education Youth Program the next year.
