MASTER WETHER PROGRAM

Each year there shall be a Master Wether title awarded to the wether obtaining the most points throughout the year.  Winning wether/farm will receive an award certification, publication/recognition in the Dwarf Digest and on the NDGA.org website.

Purpose of this program:

  • To promote the Nigerian Dwarf Wether as a breed ambassador.
  • To give an incentive to bring wethers to shows.
  • To give youth who have only wether's a reason to bring them to shows.
  • To award those wethers who do come to shows.

How to become a Master Wether
Any NDGA registered wether may compete.  The competition year will run from January 1 to December 31.  Once a wether has reached permanent grand champion status, said wether may still compete for the Master Wether Championship each year.
PGCH Wethers must have either an NDGA updated PGCH status on registration papers or the official NDGA certificate with PGCH status.

Point System
At each show the top five non-permanent grand champion wethers will be awarded points as follows:
  Individual classes:
  1st - 5 points
  2nd - 4 points
  3rd - 3 points
  4th - 2 points
  5th - 1 point

  Grand Champion Class
  Grand - 2 points
  Reserve - 1 point

A non-PGCH wether taking Grand Champion can be awarded 7 points for that show. (5 points for 1st place and 2 points for Grand).

Permanent Grand Champion Class
  1st - 7 points
  2nd - 6 points
  3rd - 5 points
  4th - 4 points
  5th - 3 points
The higher point spread is due to the fact that PGCH's do not show in the Grand Drive.

Wether placings will be reported along with all the other show reports to the NDGA Registrar.  The NDGA Registrar will maintain a list of those wethers and their points.  At year end, points will be tallied and the Master Champion Wether will be announced in the DD and online at NDGA.org and at other NDGA announcement sites.

The more shows your wether attends, the more points you can score in a year.
