Evaluations are a wonderful tool for the breeder to have an animal (or animals) evaluated to see where there is improvement needed or where their goats' strengths are. |
EVALUATIONS
NDGA GOAT EVALUATION RULES
- Only certified NDGA Evaluators may be used for evaluations. (check NDGA Judges List for Evaluators.)
- The owner of the animal(s) is responsible for all costs of the evaluation.
- There is a $10 fee to be paid at the time of evaluation. 50% of the fee goes to the evaluator and 50% will be sent to NDGA.
- The owner of the animal(s) must pay expenses incurred by the evaluator.
- Only does and bucks may be evaluated.
- Does must have freshened and be 18 months or older.
- Bucks must be 18 months or older and have registered offspring.
- The official NDGA evaluation sheet must be used.
- The evaluation sheet must be in triplicate.
- One copy (the original) will be sent to the NDGA office. The yellow copy will be retained by the evaluator, and the pink copy will be given to the owner.
- Evaluations will become a permanent part of the animal’s record.
- An animal may be re-evaluated on request except those that score 90% or more.
- An official evaluation may not be lowered, though it may be raised if the animal is re-evaluated.
- A single animal may be evaluated.
- Evaluators are cautious about going over a 95% score.
- The scoring of evaluation is as follows:
90 points and up = Excellent (E)
85 - 89 points = Very Good (VG)
80 – 84 points = Good Plus (GP)
70 – 79 points = Good (G)
60 – 69 points = Fair (F)
Below 60 = Poor (P)
- Registration Certificates of animals evaluated may be sent to the NDGA office for revision ($3.50)
- Animals evaluated as Fair or Poor will not be listed in NDGA publications.
